I took and passed the written exam on September 26 2008. This is plan I prepared and used to study for the written exam. It was based largely on the CCIE OECG, and watching some corresponding InternetworkExpert Advanced Technologies lectures on DVD (During my prep I was deployed to Afghanistan, and the DVD came in handy due to our low bandwidth internet connectivity)
The videos aren’t meant for written prep, but I’m fairly new to networking, and the exposure helped me frame a reference for technologies I have never even heard of before.
CCIE Written Study Plan June 2008 – September 2008
The basic format I plan to follow for lab study can be found here. This looks like a pretty good approach, and the one recommended by Brian Dennis. Since I won the InternetworkExpert CCIE Scholarship I have access to all of their R&S materials, as well as the new 2.0 stuff. I intend to incorporate all of their materials into my study to try and make this an InternetworkExpert pure approach utilizing all I gave graciously been given. The only exception I may may is scheduling some CCIE Assessor Labs when the time comes. I’ll have the books on the list on my bookshelf for reference and periodic reading, but don’t plan right now to throw those books into my anal retentive study plan. So reading through what InternetworkExpert recommends here’s the tentative outline. I will fill in dates as they come into focus, and I have a better feel for where I am at in my preparation.
